Ang Lee’s Hulk is one of the least understood of the Marvel superhero movies because it takes its subject matter seriously. Most audiences wanted fun but Lee chose to examine Bruce Banner’s inner demons as the central theme. The result is more of a psychological thriller than action film. Anger, or really rage, is the fuel that both brings on Hulk yet also is Banner’s obsession to eliminate within himself.
Among the takeaways from this movie are:
- Uncontrollable rage is destructive
- When anger takes on a life of its own please get professional help
- Often the worst part of an angry outburst are the feelings of guilt and shame after the event
